Anaea nobilis (Nymphalidae), Syn. Fountainea nobilis

Anaea nobilis (Nymphalidae), Syn. Fountainea nobilis, is a neotropical butterfly found from Mexico south to Colombia and Peru [1]. It is commonly known as Tropical Noble Leafwing.
The dorsal sides of the upperwings are reddish with dark brown edges. In the females the dorsal sides are usually brown, with clearer edges. On the hind wings there are a few small white and black ocelli. The undersides mimic dead leaves, ranging from pale brown to grey
